Sustainability at our core
At The Weather Makers, sustainability isn’t just a value—it’s our mission. We regenerate ecosystems at scale, restore water cycles, and harness nature’s power to absorb CO2. Every project we take on is designed to create lasting climate impact.
Leading by example
We participate in the CO2 Performance Ladder, an ambitious initiative to systematically reduce our own carbon footprint. While our operations already have a low CO2 impact, we challenge ourselves to go further.
Smart travel, smart choices
Climate awareness is embedded in everything we do. Our team prioritizes train travel over flights, minimizes car use, and only travels when absolutely necessary. When in-person meetings are essential—such as our work in the Middle East to green desertified landscapes—we ensure that the long-term climate benefits far outweigh the short-term emissions.
Our commitment: 2024 CO2 reduction goals
By 2024, we aim to cut emissions by 14% compared to 2023:
6% reduction in gas consumption (Scope 1)
8% reduction in electricity use and business travel (Scope 2)
We continuously track, report, and refine our approach to push sustainability forward.
What is the CO2 performance ladder?
The CO2 Performance Ladder is a leading sustainability tool developed by the Climate-Friendly Procurement & Entrepreneurship Foundation (SKAO). It helps companies and governments take measurable steps to reduce their carbon footprint while integrating sustainability into business strategies.
Collaboration for greater impact
The Weather Makers is a proud partner in national and global initiatives driving large-scale CO2 reduction:
🔹 DMI-Ecosystem – A Dutch initiative uniting 100+ partners to cut CO2 and nitrogen emissions in metropolitan areas while enhancing water management.
🔹 Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) – Bringing Dutch expertise in water sustainability to international projects, where CO2 reduction is a key focus.
