A new frontier in sustainable farming

The Weather Makers is part of MicroSOS, a Horizon 2020 international consortium uniting academic and non-academic partners in agriculture and environmental science. By unlocking the potential of microbiomes, the project aims to enhance crop resilience, reduce chemical dependence, and mitigate climate change impacts—paving the way for more sustainable food production.

Connecting land, water, and microbiomes

The Weather Makers is leading research on holistic ecosystem integration, bridging aquatic and land-based microbiomes to strengthen agricultural systems. This approach includes producing freshwater from saltwater, reducing fertilizer use, and fostering soil microbial diversity—helping crops thrive in changing climates.

Testing nature-driven solutions in Málaga

A research prototype in Málaga, Spain, is exploring how nature-based farming can enhance soil health, water efficiency, and climate resilience. In 2025, the collaboration with Universidad de Málaga enters its second phase, where field trials will test ecosystem-inspired approaches in real agricultural settings.

By working with nature, not against it, agriculture can become part of the solution.
